Momentum Transport director named as winner in everywoman 2020 transport and logistics awards
The awards, in their 13th year, aim to uncover female role models, identify male agents of change and transform industry perception.
David was awarded the honour for his commitment to driving greater equality in the transport sector and working closely with Momentum’s HR team to improve opportunities for women. The judges were impressed with the large proportion of women in the Momentum team compared to the transport industry average of 20% and David’s active commitment to Women in Transport’s mentoring programme – Advance.
Mailys Garden, principal at Momentum, said: “David is an outstanding leader – combining a rare, progressive vision of the industry which underpins his values and behaviour as a company director, personal supervisor, project lead and Women in Transport mentor.
“He appreciates the challenges of a male-dominated industry and relentlessly seeks to grow and promote talent and ideas from all backgrounds and levels. David not only excels at building trust with clients and industry partners but also at building confidence in less-experienced colleagues, positively supporting them and publicly giving them all the credit they deserve. He commands respect amongst his peers and is an inspiring role model for women – and all leaders in the transport and logistics industry.
“I’m extremely proud that David and Momentum have been recognised for their contributions to equality, diversity and inclusion in the workplace.”
Also recognised at the ceremony was Amelie Cosse, director at Momentum Canada, who was named as a finalist in the ‘international inspiration’ category for her passion, expertise and hard work which is inspiring women in her community and creating lasting benefits to transport in North America.
