Our opportunity

We are looking for a talented individual to join our new team in Houston and help shape the future of our city! This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a background in Transportation Planning and/or Engineering to join a small, growing and fast paced business. You will reinforce the excellent reputation it currently enjoys internationally, while working with the leadership to shape its future growth and direction bringing your own experience, ideas and perspectives. You will contribute to a range of specialized transportation planning and engineering projects. You will play a critical role as part of specialized technical teams with project delivery including technical report writing, transportation assessments, master planning, and traffic and transport planning studies. You will connect with our clients, design teams and third parties to deliver projects. You will also represent Momentum at local seminars and networking events, and will help identify and develop business opportunities.

Knowledge, skills and abilities

Essential:

 

  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal guidelines, standards, policies, and regulations. Ability to develop, interpret and implement regulations, policies and procedures and ensure compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills, allowing effective communication at all levels.
  • Ability to research and analyze detailed information and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Ability to visualize and communicate research and technical analysis for a wide audience.
  • Ability to take initiative and work with autonomy.
  • Strong organizational and time management to prioritize duties to accomplish a high volume of work outputs while adapting to constant changes in priority.
  • Team player with a willingness to train and mentor graduate staff.
  • Ability to develop new and innovative solutions to transport challenges, including multi-modal solutions.
  • Ability to perform and complete advanced, specialized transportation tasks in support of engineering/planning projects.
  • Experience preparing technical reports and deliverables.
  • Familiarity with emerging best-practices/guidelines in transportation, smart cities, micro-mobility, and urban transportation
  • Ability and desire to continue to learn and take advantage of opportunities for professional development.
  • Proficient in Microsoft office.

 

Desirable:

 

  • Proficiency with transportation and traffic analysis software (HCS, Synchro, VISSIM).
  • Proficiency in GIS software (ESRI products), Adobe Acrobat and InDesign

 

Qualifications and experience:

 

  • 5+ years relevant experience in transportation planning/engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree in a related field is considered a plus.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or AICP Certification.
