I’ve been working with Momentum since the day they opened their doors. I think I was one of the first clients!

Momentum helps us to analyze and confirm the way spectators use and experience our designs. Their findings help us fine tune our designs to ensure they are comfortable, safe, and convenient buildings to experience.

On many of our projects, they help us to analyze the evacuation times and propose remedies to help alleviate congestion and increase safety.

Landsec has worked closely with Momentum Transport on a number of major projects since its inception as a practice in 2012. During this time Momentum has repeatedly demonstrated the depth of their expertise and technical creativity in advising on and delivering a range of sound transport solutions.

At 21 Moorfields, a 560,000 sq ft office development in London EC2, Momentum devised a bespoke highway solution to meet the exacting access, delivery and security requirements of the principal tenant, a major international bank. Despite considerable initial local objections from third parties, who wished to promote an alternative arrangement, Momentum used their technical and diplomatic skills to persuade the majority of these objectors and ultimately the City Highway authority that its solution was preferable. Resolution of this issue was a key factor in retaining a financial major occupier in the City of London, who otherwise may have moved their HQ beyond Central London or possibly overseas.

In the West End Westminster Council, TfL and Landsec were facing a situation where a new City street, which all parties agreed should ideally be pedestrianised, was nevertheless required to accommodate bus provision, to prevent lengthy bus diversions continuing on a permanent basis, at substantial cost. Momentum demonstrated design ingenuity in remodelling and promoting a revised junction arrangement close to the site, which when implemented will obviate the necessity for future bus diversion and allow a provision of more convenient and efficient bus services, whilst freeing up the previously proposed route for an open space which the public can enjoy.

We have worked closely with Momentum on the Olympia Masterplan vision with over 2 million square feet of arts, entertainment and exhibitions in West London.

With the ever increasing complexity of public transport, rail links, cycle superhighways, targets for reduction of emissions and traffic congestion, Momentum’s valued role in the world of masterplanning has become quantums more complex and more important.

Momentum Transport has been a great supporter of the Hatton Garden BID since it was established two years ago.

We hugely benefit from their strong relationships with key stakeholders such as TfL and Camden Council and they continue to bring an important perspective as an SME in the BID for how young people can be supported through the apprentice schemes and how freight consolidation and a “buyers club” could help to reduce vehicle trips in Hatton Garden and improve air quality.

The Momentum team has also developed an impressive public realm strategy for Hatton Garden which is being implemented as part of the ongoing improvements for the area. They have proved themselves to be a reliable and forward-looking transport consultancy and I am most grateful for the time they freely devote to the local community and business district. Momentum are a pleasure to work with.

As planning consultants for 21 Moorfields, the new Deutsche Bank pre-let development for Landsec, GVA worked with David and Natalie from Momentum on the planning application for the site.

Having previously secured two planning permissions on the site, both of which have been implemented and the site having been cleared, Momentum had to carefully consider how to benchmark the transport impacts of the existing site. Working with the Environmental Consultants on the project, they came up with the innovative idea of using a “future baseline”, so as not to skew the data given the temporary vacant state of the site.

In addition, following some objections from the adjoining residents with regard to highways impacts, Momentum worked with the other project consultants to produce in-depth data to present to residents to show that the highways impacts would be minimal including in relation to noise, air quality and hours of delivery. As a result, many residents withdrew their objections on the proposals.

Finally, working with specialist consultants, Momentum collaborated to deliver an animation which would show how the servicing and loading sequence would work debunking any myths on how the loading would operate which ultimately led to a positive recommendation at Committee.

We very much enjoyed working with Momentum and their collaborative, pro-active and positive attitude to finding solutions on the project meant it was a real benefit to have them as part of the team.
