What we do

Momentum is a transport and movement engineering consultancy. We design how people and vehicles move through complex places – from major stations and interchanges to dense urban developments and public realm schemes.

We’re involved in some of the most exciting and challenging infrastructure and development projects in cities across the world – from cycle networks to sport stadiums; large commercial skyscrapers to HS2; from removing traffic gyratories to leading the debate on smart servicing, autonomous vehicles and e-mobility. We redesign streets, public spaces, and buildings to reflect the future of transport as one of the UK’s most highly regarded transport engineering consultancies.

We apply engineering judgement and technical detail – geometry, design standards, and constructability – to develop practical, buildable solutions. Our engineers work closely with architects, planners and clients from concept design through to detailed design and construction, ensuring every transport solution is technically sound, context-sensitive and deliverable.

We’re at the forefront of fighting climate change and are proud of the way we work with our clients every day to push sustainability boundaries and challenge ourselves to help create safe, liveable and equitable places and neighbourhoods.

Our opportunity

Momentum’s civil and highway engineering offer is growing fast, and we’re looking for a forward-thinking Principal Engineer to play a key role in its evolution. You’ll bring strong technical, design and leadership skills to help deliver complex transport and movement projects across the UK and internationally. Working alongside our structural engineering sister company, Eidos, you’ll help expand our collective capability, supporting a diverse workload that spans infrastructure, development and public realm design. You’ll lead the technical delivery of multidisciplinary projects – applying engineering judgement, innovation and commercial awareness to develop practical, buildable solutions. As a senior engineer, you’ll set and maintain standards of quality, rigour and creativity across our outputs. You’ll guide and mentor engineers, manage project budgets and programmes, and play an active role in developing new business opportunities and client relationships. This is a role with real influence – shaping how we design, collaborate and deliver the next generation of transport infrastructure.
