Momentum Transport Consultancy achieves B Corp Certification

Certification marks a significant milestone in the consultancy’s commitment to responsible business and creating better outcomes for people and the planet

Momentum Transport Consultancy has achieved B Corp Certification, marking an important milestone in its commitment to operating as a responsible business and creating positive impact through its work.

Momentum is certified as part of a group assessment covering Momentum Transport Consultancy and its sister companies Eidos Engineering and Spatial Design Hub. The group achieved an overall B Impact Score of 81.8, above the threshold required for certification and compared with a current median score of 50.9 for ordinary businesses completing the assessment.

B Corp Certification assesses a business across areas including governance, workers, community, environment and customers, providing a framework for measuring and improving its social and environmental impact.

For Momentum, the certification reflects a commitment that extends beyond the transport solutions it develops. As a consultancy working at the intersection of transport, development and place-making, the business recognises the wider impact that decisions about movement and infrastructure can have on people, communities and the environment.

John Mulhaire, director and head of transport planning at Momentum Transport Consultancy, said:

“Becoming a B Corp is an important milestone for Momentum and reflects the kind of business we want to be. Our work is ultimately about helping create places that work better for people. That means thinking beyond individual projects and considering the wider social, environmental and economic outcomes of the decisions we help our clients make.

“The B Corp process has given us a valuable framework for looking critically at how we operate as a business as well as the impact of our work. We’re proud of achieving certification, but equally conscious that it represents a commitment to keep improving. It also reflects our businesses’ shared ambition to approach complex built-environment challenges through collaboration, bringing together different disciplines and perspectives to create better outcomes for people and places. ”

Momentum will continue to use the B Corp framework to identify opportunities to improve its impact and embed responsible business practices across its operations.
