Blenheim Palace
Supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals
This project involved assisting BMA in the production of a site visitor strategy. The primary deliverable comprised a forecasting car parking demand model, accompanied by advice regarding onsite car park management, and measures to influence the travel behaviours of site visitors. The fundamental challenge included the production of the forecasting parking demand model and produce outputs differing on various proposed operational measures.
Momentum produced a bespoke forecasting car parking demand model, which was undertaken in order to provide an understanding of its existing daily impact, and how this will differ based on various operational measures, aiming to reduce the impact of car parking on the world heritage site. The outputs of this model were communicated within a Transport Strategy Workshop, involving relevant stakeholders from Blenheim Palace. This allowed for all the transport challenges to be discussed alongside solutions, whilst taking into account the heritage constraints of the site.
Momentum utilised experience from previous heritage projects and their challenges to suggest methods to influence visitor travel behavioural change. Additionally, cartography services were provided in the form of driving and public transport catchment maps, which gave an indication of the populations within certain time catchments around the site.
