Project context
Momentum reviewed visitor movement patterns and provided information to support a lift capacity study, as well as the development of wayfinding and crowd management measures to improve the current visitor experience and prepare the Tate to the opening of proposed additional exhibition spaces.
Our work
Momentum prepared a visitor movement study at the Tate Modern focusing on the utilisation of the two lift cores of the Blavatnik Building. The project included the use of WiFi sensors to track visitors through the multiple levels of the building over a period of 4 weeks.
Client outcomes
The results of the study were analysed to provide the Tate and the lift consultants with detailed demand data for lift utilisation across all floors. While collecting this core data set, information on the total number of visitors through the building, by floor, by time of the day and dwell times within the building were also provided.
