Lansdowne 2.0 Phases 1 and 2
Supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals

Project context
The City of Ottawa is redeveloping the Lansdowne stadium and complex, which includes the redevelopment of the north stadium stands (11,200 seated capacity) and event centre (5,500 seated capacity) in Phases 1 and 2, and the addition of two new residential towers and businesses in Phase 3.
Our work
Momentum completed Transportation Impact Assessments and updated the TDMs for Phases 1 and 2. The multi-modal level of service (MMLOS) analysis included complex trip generation and Synchro analyses for 16 intersections across 26 operational scenarios. Momentum also supported the design of loading bays and site circulation.
Client outcomes
The Lansdowne 2.0 Phase 1 has received Site Plan Approval and Tender Issuance. Momentum’s in-depth knowledge of the site, prior experience with the Ottawa Sports and Entertainment Group, and interdisciplinary expertise enabled support in crowd flow modelling, loading bay design, and site circulation, delivering a coordinated plan for the client.
Chase Center (Arena)
Supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals

The Chase Center is a mixed-use, multi-purpose arena and the impressive home of seven-time NBA champions, the Golden State Warriors.
Located along the coastline of Mission Bay in San Francisco, the Chase Center is a state-of-the-art indoor venue designed to host a variety of major events, from sports and concerts to conventions and shows. The arena is complemented by approximately 3 acres of landscaped public space and retail outlets to serve the surrounding community.
Led by our modelling and analytical expertise, Momentum supported the arena during the preliminary design stages with crowd flow and traffic modelling to ensure the best design provisions were made to improve the circulation of visitors and spectators before, during, and after event times. As part of our involvement during the preliminary design stages of the Chase Center, Momentum led the preparation of traffic models that incorporated key elements of the stadium parking area to help assess the anticipated impacts of event day traffic on the surrounding highway network. Thanks to our ability to provide robust and detailed operational car parking models, we were able to assist the design team in understanding potential queues outside the stadium, while also enabling internal stakeholders to better estimate the demand for shuttle services and coaches.
ExCeL London
Supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals
Project context
Our client required a review of its current crowd management operation to support an overarching crowd management strategy to discharge planning conditions to extend the venue, and to provide insights into future crowd monitoring technologies.
Our work
We completed quantitative and qualitative data collection through pedestrian surveys and analysis, and interviews and engagement with key internal stakeholders. Static pedestrian modelling for various event scenarios and crowd management recommendations were also carried out, and a framework for future crowd management planning was provided for our client.
Client outcomes
A bespoke approach to crowd management strategy and recommendations for the future, delivered through engagement with stakeholders and an understanding of current operations.
The Saville Theatre
Supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals

Project context
The project will enable the refurbishment and extension of the Saville Theatre building on Shaftesbury Avenue. The project will see the building return to its original use in the heart of the West End, providing a dedicated theatre with a 220-bedroom hotel extension above, and significant contributions to Camden’s public realm improvement schemes in the area. Our work
Momentum advised on public realm around the building, cycle store design, servicing and deliveries, considering the tight street network busy with pedestrian, cycling and vehicle flows around the Site. We worked closely with the design team and Camden’s transport officers to produce a strong transport case for the development, supported by high quality transport planning documents.Client outcomes
The project received planning consent in April 2025 and benefitted from Momentum’s vast experience of working within Camden, and our understanding of how to support the revival of this site, within the West End’s constrained but highly exciting street environment.Selhurst Park, Crystal Palace

2012 Olympics
Supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals

Beginning with our involvement on the original bid in 2005, through to the planning and operations, the Momentum team were involved at every stage of the London 2012 Olympics.
Our team was responsible for generating demand forecasts for the Games Family, spectators and workforce. Our role during the London Olympics also involved developing plans for the proposed Park & Ride facilities whilst working in partnership with the London Underground to implement enhanced strategies to improve passenger and pedestrian movement among stations within the local and wider Stratford area.
The London 2017 IAAF
Supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals

The London 2017 IAAF and IPC World Para Athletics Championships were held at the London Stadium in 2017 being the largest sporting event at the stadium since the 2012 Olympics. The championships consisted of multiple event days with a number of double event days requiring the management of overlapping ingress and egress periods.
This project included developing strategies for different user groups such as media, athletes, general admission, fleet and shuttle bus services, as well as a mobility strategy. Momentum Transport Consultancy provided transport support in developing the crowd management and traffic management strategy for spectators arriving and leaving the stadium, together with the strategy for other stakeholders to gain access to the site such as athletes, media, staff and shuttle services. We provided forecasts of arrival and departure profiles and data analysis to provide an informed strategy that was developed in consultation with key stakeholders including transport operators and adjacent land owners and venues.
Momentum also provided design advice for traffic management of operational areas to enable the facilitation of events and the transportation of athletes between venues in accordance with timescales required by the client. Momentum also prepared the relevant supporting transport documents required to address the planning requirements in the form of a bespoke event management plant to inform the overarching transport strategy.
Qatar Countrywide Experience
Supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals

Momentum supported in the preparation of transport and access plans for more than 40 tourist attractions in Qatar, forming part of the ‘countrywide experience’ for the 2022 world cup. The sites ranged from street festivals, to beach resorts, cultural attractions and open air shows.
We reviewed opportunities for access using public transport, shuttle buses and micromobility, as well as defining any parking requirements.
Key to the strategy, our team developed a hub-and-spoke strategy to serve regional sites, with demand concentrated on regional gateways which are easily reachable by bus or metro from Central Doha, also functioning as consolidation hubs for deliveries. In order to serve the smaller sites, we developed a concept for Demand Responsive Transport (DRT)-style minibus services.
Momentum provided capacity calculations for the transport connections to each region and site, providing an initial concept for shuttle bus frequencies, routes and fleet sizing.
We also supported the definition of disabled access requirements, delivery and servicing areas, required transport staff, and fleet dimensioning for the proposed shuttle buses.
