Momentum contributed transport analysis and recommendations to Dunleer’s Town Centre First Plan (Co. Louth). The Plan was produced by BDP architects in partnership with County Louth, with input from Dunleer’s residents, local and national stakeholders.

Momentum conducted desktop research on public transport networks and local planning documents, and analysed data from the town centre parking survey and traffic counts. As part of the project, Momentum engaged with the National Transport Authority and used findings from local engagement conducted by BDP.

Momentum identified opportunities to make transport in Dunleer more sustainable, accessible and safer, for the benefit of people who live, work and visit Dunleer. Our recommendations included:

  • Safer walking routes to and from schools and the town centre, thanks to new pavements, lower speed limits and re-timing of lorry traffic.
  • Car parking rationalisation to widen pavements and make them accessible to all.
  • New safe crossing points.
  • Improvements to bus stops to make them more comfortable and accessible.

If implemented, these changes would increase the number of visitors and the time they spend in Dunleer and encourage to them to travel sustainably – bringing significant economic, social and environmental benefit to the town.
